The RoboCup German Open 2024 will be the 21st event and open to national and international teams. It will take place from April 17 to 21, 2024, at the Kassel trade fair. Major teams will compete in several leagues for intelligent soccer, rescue, home and work robots. We want to attract national attention with strong media performance. 700-800 active participants are expected. The event attracts many visitors every year, including students interested in technology, robotics and AI.
Teams of different football-playing robots compete against each other on their playing fields in five leagues: humanoid robots of different sizes in humanoid, standard platform and simulation leagues as well as driving robots in middle size and small size leagues. All robots are autonomous, i.e. not remotely controlled. This means that they have to perceive the environment, plan and execute their movements independently and in real time and cooperate with each other in a very dynamic environment. They are allowed to communicate with each other via radio or acoustically.
In two leagues for real and simulated robots and scenarios, teams compete with remote-controlled, semi- or fully autonomous rescue robots in different subtasks for mobility, exploration, manipulation of objects and perception of the environment. These are derived from real requirements and enable systematic testing and evaluation.
The aim of the RoboCup@Home league is to develop service and...Assistance robot technology with high relevance for future privateHousehold applications. It is the largest international oneannual competition for autonomous service robots and is part of theRoboCup initiative.
In two leagues, future industrial applications of intelligent robots in dynamic modular transport and logistics processes and in mobile manipulation tasks, for example for equipping shelves and machines or for complex assembly tasks, are being investigated.
