Teams from universities, colleges and companies compete against each other with their robot systems in 13 leagues in four categories: autonomous football-playing robot teams (RoboCupSoccer), service robots in the home (RoboCup@Home), robots to support civilian emergency services (RoboCupRescue) and in future production environments (RoboCupIndustrial).
The RoboCup German Open - open to national and international Major teams - will be held again in 2025. The event will take place from March 12 to 16, 2025 at the Messe Nürnberg (major tournament 12.-16.3., junior final tournament 13.-16.3.). About 1000 active participants are expected. We expect national attention in the media. The event attracts many visitors every year, including schoolchildren interested in technology, robotics and AI.
The future of agriculture will need autonomous intelligent farming robots to provide means to compensate diminishing workers. Additionally, autonomous robots will minimize pesticides, reduce fertilizer usage and enhance organic farming by better adapting to local situations on the field. The goal of this competition is to introduce smart farming and the agricultural context to RoboCup. Additionally, this competition will provide a new challenge for intelligent autonomous mobile robots as teams need to adapt to a given robot in a short amount of time and with limited resources.
Teams of different football-playing robots compete against each other on their playing fields in five leagues: humanoid robots of different sizes in humanoid, standard platform and simulation leagues as well as driving robots in middle size and small size leagues. All robots are autonomous, i.e. not remotely controlled. This means that they have to perceive the environment, plan and execute their movements independently and in real time and cooperate with each other in a very dynamic environment. They are allowed to communicate with each other via radio or acoustically.
In two leagues for real and simulated robots and scenarios, teams compete with remote-controlled, semi- or fully autonomous rescue robots in different subtasks for mobility, exploration, manipulation of objects and perception of the environment. These are derived from real requirements and enable systematic testing and evaluation.
The aim of the RoboCup@Home league is to develop service and...Assistance robot technology with high relevance for future privateHousehold applications. It is the largest international oneannual competition for autonomous service robots and is part of theRoboCup initiative.
In two leagues, future industrial applications of intelligent robots in dynamic modular transport and logistics processes and in mobile manipulation tasks, for example for equipping shelves and machines or for complex assembly tasks, are being investigated.
